Library Media Center

LMC Hours:

The LMC is open every school morning at 8:50 when students are allowed into the school and closes at 3:35. 

Computer Lab:

Students are scheduled once a week in the lab.  Computers are also available in the LMC and the classrooms.  The lab is equipped with PCs, and the classrooms with Macintosh.  Teachers integrate computer activities with the curriculum.

Guidelines:

Students check out materials for a 2 week period.  Kindergarten students may check out one book at a time until January when they may begin checking out two at a time.   Students in first through fifth grade may check out three books at a time.   Novel study books and textbooks are not included in the total.

Accelerated Reader:

Accelerated Reader is an optional reading incentive program for grades 3 through 5 at White Eagle School.  Students may choose to read a book for which there is a ten question test on the classroom and LMC computers.  Depending on how well a students score on the test, they receive points.  As their points accumulate, they receive prizes.  A hint:  students perform better on the test if they take it as soon as they can after reading the book.  Click here to view the list of qualifying books.

Rebecca Caudill:

Rebecca Caudill is a state-wide program in which children in grades 4 through 8 choose their favorite book from a list of 20 nominated books.  The nominated books were suggested by students and teachers.  A committee of teachers and librarians develops the list of nominations for the year.  Students may vote for their favorite in late February only if they have read  at least three of the twenty nominated titles.
