Principal's Update - Nov. 21, 2021

Reported by dawn_vieira@ipsd.org on 11/22/21

Principal's Update
DATE November 21, 2021

I am glad to be back at school this week and see all of the students smiles and happiness. This update and next Sunday's update will be very similar as the students have this coming week off of school - all FIVE days. We wish every one a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday.

HAPPENINGS AT WHITE EAGLE:—

Giving Tree - a Fifth Grade Project: Students who returned a permission slip to pick a tag from the Giving Tree, did so on Friday, November 19th. Gifts are to be returned on Thursday, December 2nd or Friday, December 3rd during our arrival time. On Saturday, December 4th, our fifth grade family volunteers will gather to move the gifts to a vehicle for transport to the Salvation Army. This is one the most touching parts of the experience as families form a “human chain” to pass the gifts along. Please note - The Salvation Army is requesting NO CLOTHES as gifts this year. We are blessed and appreciative of our White Eagle families and their donations.

Covid-19 Vaccinations: If you have elected to have your child receive the Covid-19 vaccine, please provide the office with a copy of your proof of immunization so that the nurse can update your child’s health record. Please wait until all doses have been administered before sending in the proof of immunization. Questions may be directed to Nurse Collins at marney_collins@ipsd.org or (630) 375-3604.

Gifts of Gratitude Program: The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) is offering the opportunity to honor a special IPSD 204 teacher or staff member through their ‘Gifts of Gratitude’ program. Share your appreciation by making a tax-deductible donation to IPEF on behalf of your honoree through December 10th. Your honoree receives a personalized certificate prior to the holiday break to commemorate your gratitude and their name is displayed on the IPEF website’s ‘Wall of Gratitude’ that recognizes outstanding educators.

Your tax-deductible Gifts of Gratitude donation supports IPEF’s Teacher Innovation Grants program. Gifts of any size are meaningful, welcome and discreet – donation amounts are not disclosed to the honoree. https://ipef204.org/recognize-great-teachers/

Boundary Public Comment Option: Due to the high level of interest shown by our community in the boundary process, we're inviting District 204 residents to share their opinions with the board, administration, and at-large community via this online public comment form. Comments will be collected and made public via a link on the IPSD boundary webpage. The standard information for public comment sign up will be collected but only name and comment will be shared.

Submission of public comments will remain open through the December 8, 2021 boundary committee meeting. Boundary related public comments will be updated weekly on Mondays with a timestamp of each submission. One comment per person is allowed. Community members will have an opportunity to submit additional comments between the December 8, 2021 boundary committee meeting and the December 20, 2021 board workshop and again before the January 10, 2022 board of education meeting. As a reminder, boundary public comments will be made available to all age groups and, as such, we ask that you consider the audience members and keep comments age appropriate.

Listen & Learn with the Superintendent: Superintendent Dr. Adrian Talley is holding three Listen & Learn sessions with the community in which he will share information about the district as well as his goals. Community members will have an opportunity to share their feedback on what works in the district, what is not working, and what specific suggestions they have for what’s not working. Information gathered during these sessions will help the superintendent in planning for the future and may be used as part of the strategic planning process that will start later in the school year. The next Listen & Learn Session will be held from 7 - 9 pm on Tuesday, December 14 at Crone Middle School (RSVP here).

If you have questions regarding the Listen & Learn sessions, please contact Lisa Barry, Executive Director of Communication Services, at lisa_barry@ipsd.org.

—District’s COVID Dashboard: The dashboard includes all positive cases of COVID-19 reported to District 204 for individuals who were on campus and the current transmission level with the corresponding mitigation strategies. This is updated at 4pm every Monday.

Lunch and Breakfast Menus: Please find this week's lunch and breakfast menus on the IPSD.org website under Food Service or by going to https://www.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/SchoolLunches. —

Mission Statement: White Eagle is a learning community where we embrace our diversity and encourage all students, staff and parents to be compassionate and understanding of one another's perspectives, experiences, and differences.

Vision Statement: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Ready. At School, At Home, In the World.
