Principal's Update
DATE December 19, 2021

What a way to end a long week. The PTA Cookie Extravaganza was absolutely amazing (and delicious)! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! to all the families who sent in cookies for the staff to enjoy and share with our families. What a great way to celebrate our staff! Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts and the waistline of our pants!!!!

HAPPENINGS AT WHITE EAGLE:——

Mental Health Resource - Referral GPS: —ReferralGPS is a web-based service focused on assisting our students, staff, and community in finding local mental-health and substance use related treatment. The service compliments the districts existing systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment options, ReferralGPS provides Care Navigation to assist families in triage, appointment setting, and follow-up care.

School district staff and families may access ReferralGPS in two ways:

Contact Student Services (social workers, psychologists, counselors) to seek our treatment options.

Visit our District 204 link at https://referralgps.com/find-help/IPSD204 to search for treatment resources or connect with a Care Navigator anonymously.

ReferralGPS takes into account all types of private and public insurance including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, Medicare, and families who are uninsured or underinsured. The platform also filters by age, gender, zip code, and special requests. ReferralGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at no cost. All information entered on the ReferralGPS tool is completely confidential and securely stored.

Emergency Closing Information: —In light of emergency situations that have caused several local school districts to close for a day, we wanted to communicate with our families the procedures we will use if we were to close for a day due to unforeseen circumstances. Some of the reasons for the closures that have occurred in neighboring districts so far have been related to unsafe water, bus driver shortages, and credible threats. Some situations qualify as an e-learning day. When this is the case, the last day of school remains the same. If we are not able to designate it as an e-learning day, one of our emergency days at the end of the year would be added which would make the last day of school later.

If a situation occurs that requires Indian Prairie School District 204 to cancel in-person learning for a day, we will enact our e-Learning procedures. These procedures were put in place prior to the COVID-19 pandemic when we were trying to prepare for e-learning on severe weather days. Since these procedures were created in 2019, there have been many changes in our ability to provide learning opportunities remotely. The main changes have been the consistent use of Google classroom and technology availability for our youngest learners.

Whenever possible, notification regarding e-Learning Days will occur in the evening prior to the emergency day. Here is an FAQ regarding this type of day. Teachers will have the assigned work posted by the start of the school day for their given levels. For students who do not take their Chromebooks home each night (typically early childhood, kindergarten and first grade) teachers will have sent home a paper copy of a work packet for the students to complete. Teachers will be available to answer questions by email. If the emergency day is expected to be for one day only, the expectation will be for students to complete the work assigned independently. If, for some reason, the emergency situation is expected to be continued for an extended length of time, we will communicate additional plans to provide live instruction opportunities.

Covid-19 Vaccinations: If you have elected to have your child receive the Covid-19 vaccine, please provide the office with a copy of your proof of immunization so that the nurse can update your child’s health record. Please wait until all doses have been administered before sending in the proof of immunization. Questions may be directed to Nurse Collins at marney_collins@ipsd.org or (630) 375-3604.

—District’s COVID Dashboard: The dashboard includes all positive cases of COVID-19 reported to District 204 for individuals who were on campus and the current transmission level with the corresponding mitigation strategies. This is updated at 4pm every Monday.

Lunch and Breakfast Menus: Please find this week's lunch and breakfast menus on the IPSD.org website under Food Service. —
